Organic Fruit Medley
Our dried fruit is all natural and preservative-free, perfect for on-the-go and stay-at-home snacking. Every piece is infused with a touch of moisture so that it is soft, juicy and truly irresistible! This medley includes apricots, plums and figs.
Apricots are grown through most of Turkey with half of the crop being produced in the Central Eastern Anatolia region. This relative of the peach has an ancient lineage which reaches back over 5,000 years to China. Growing on the sun-drenched hills, Turkish apricots are known for their velvety sweetness. This natural sweetness is what makes Fruit Bliss apricots taste so distinctly different.
Continuing in the French tradition of exceptional taste, the Agen plum has been part of the culinary heritage in Southwestern France for centuries; prized for its natural tenderness and distinct flavor. In 2002, the European Union officially recognized the Agen plum, granting it a protected geographical designation. Today there is considerable production of Ente plums, the only variety that can be used to make dried plums entitled to the Agen designation.
Figs have been growing in Turkey for thousands of years. Classified as being part of the Mulberry family, Turkish figs are primarily grown in the provinces of Aydin and Izmir situated close to the Aegean Sea. Turkey is regarded as being the largest producer of figs in the world and their figs are lauded for their high quality. Once you bite into a Fruit Bliss fig, you can appreciate the heritage that makes these figs so special.
Fruit Bliss is very different from typical dried fruit. One thing you will notice is that all of our fruits are a natural dark color. This is what happens as the fruit oxidizes naturally drying in the sun. Most dried fruit are a bright color because they have added sulfur dioxide, a chemical color preserver.
Sulfur dioxide is often used in dried fruit as a preservative and to preserve its appealing bright color. Even though the FDA considers it safe to consume in small amounts, why would you want to? Sulfur dioxide is a toxic gas and can cause reactions such as breathing problems, skin rashes, upset stomach and an asthma attack in those that have even slight sensitivity.
About Fruit Bliss:
Bliss is an ultimate state of happiness—exactly how one should feel when eating our deliciously juicy, super tasty whole fruit snacks. Feeding your body with healthy and nutritious food is one of the keys to a blissful lifestyle.
I was in my teens when I started to take an interest in nutritious eating—paying attention to nutrition labels and ingredients and learning about food and the environment, so I made the decision to become a vegetarian. A healthy lifestyle of staying active and consuming delicious, nutritious food has always been a passion of mine. As I started my own family, it became even more important.
While taking trips with my husband to visit his family in Turkey, I came upon rehydrated fruit, a different kind of “un-dried” fruit snack that is popular in Europe. With the grocery aisles in the States feeling limited in terms of simple, healthful and sustaining snack foods, I knew that this item would be embraced in the US. In 2011 we set up shop in Brooklyn, where my family and I already called home, and where a healthy food revolution was taking place.
Fruit Bliss has allowed me to not only teach my children about healthy eating, but show them through my work. From our family to yours, we hope you also enjoy snacking bliss with Fruit Bliss.
